Project Overview & Consultation

There is nothing quite like taking a beautiful Edwardian era home and bringing it into the 21st century. While the end result can be spectacular, the entire journey is a delicate balance between retaining the period charm while adding an unmistakably modern wow factor.

This project started with a cozy double fronted Edwardian home which was masterfully extended to create a striking two storey residence with 3 bedrooms + study, 3 bathrooms, multiple living zones and an abundance of natural light.

Concept & Design

In a project of this magnitude, meticulous planning is of the essence. The first piece of the puzzle were the considered and beautifully designed plans created by Karl Degering & Associates. The design took full advantage of the period charm and unbeatable position of the property while optimising space and capturing every last ray of light to create a beautifully airy and spacious residence.

We worked very closely with the client and architect to ensure that the finished product was everything they had intended it to be and more.

The original floorplan was reimagined as a gateway from the Edwardian era to the modern day, retaining 2 downstairs bedrooms but adding the always desirable ensuite and WIR and transforming the otherwise dark and closed in living space into a grand open plan kitchen, living, dining leading out to a stunning outdoor entertaining area complete with a cleverly hidden outdoor kitchen.

The real magic was found in the newly created, second storey extension with skylights and magnificent structural features accenting a luxurious Master retreat complete with ensuite, walk-in robe, study and terrace. This was all complemented by a beautifully curved design with feature cladding and balustrading creating the ultimate in unforgettable street appeal.

Project Management

With a project of this scope it is imperative to expect the unexpected and plan for it and when it comes to heritage renovations, the unexpected is always around the corner. Between council approvals, structural surprises, project variations, material shortages, Covid restrictions and all of the small things that make renovating so eventful, our greatest tools were planning and scheduling. Utilising our scheduling software and always ensuring that open communication was front of mind we were able to closely monitor all aspects of this multi stage process. While there were unavoidable delays, these were managed to minimise impact, often redesigning the schedule to create an optimised workflow, and our client was kept informed every step of the way.
