Project Overview & Consultation

When a family outgrows their house, they have two options; they can find a new home or extend their existing one and we are so glad that our clients chose to do the latter.

The original home was a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom 1950’s original which was completely transformed with a 95sqm extension, full renovation throughout and an alfresco area made for pool side entertaining. The finished project was a four bedroom plus study, 2.5 bathroom stunner with an abundance of living/entertainment space both indoor and out.

Concept & Design

The plans, prepared by Murley design, struck the perfect balance between preserving the old while maximising space with the new. The front half of the house retained some of charm of the original dwelling while the rear utilised the full width of the block to add a stunning 95sqm extension. The extension allowed for a brand new master suite complete with a cleverly hidden walk through walk in robe leading to a sparkling ensuite; expansive kitchen, living and dining with a stunning tundra grey marble island bench and heated concrete floors throughout; a Butler’s pantry, laundry, study and powder room made full use of the newly created space and rounded out a magnificent family home.

Project Management

With a project of this size, planning and scheduling is key. Utilising our scheduling software in combination with our online client portal we started with a project timeline and then closely monitored the progression of the stages. Changes to some of the design elements, inclement weather and Covid restrictions were all managed through regular scheduling reviews to keep the project moving.

Building to the boundary can also present some challenges but we were proactive in communicating with the adjoining neighbours ensuring that they were aware of the works required as well as how their property would be protected and restored.

Our clients were ecstatic with the finished product and could wait to move in and start making full use of their beautiful new home.
